We all want our kids to eat more greens. One easy way to make that happen is through smoothies
.A few tips when making a green smoothie for your kids:
-Let them help. Many kids respond much better to new colors or textures when they are able to help with the process.
-Don't be afraid to use less "greens" and add more fruit, especially when first introducing the green smoothie. This will give your kids that great fruit flavor and still get them greens.
-Use a Squeasy! OK, we may be a little bias here, but having something fun to drink out of as well as masking the "color" for some kids can be a big deal.
To get you started, here is a great green smoothie recipe from Super Healthy Kids
- 3 cups packed baby spinach
- 2 cups frozen peaches
- 1 cup frozen mango (or use fresh or more peaches)
- 1 frozen banana
- 1/2 cup skim milk
- 1 cup orange juice
- 1 cup plain yogurt
Don't be afraid to change or modify the recipe. Use this recipe as a base and expand & experiment.
HAPPY SMOOTHIE MAKING!!!
